Editor’s Note:
Spring is here, and love is in the air, but romance doesn’t always come so easily — especially not when it comes in the form of a romantic comedy. In this issue of Spark Flash Fiction, our couples get in all kinds of trouble on their way to finding love.
If you love romantic comedies on the big screen, you’ll love our featured author Betsy St. Amant’s story, Better than the Movies. And Leslie DeVooght’s staff feature for this issue was inspired by Jane Austen’s Emma and a midnight kayak tour. From friends who need kissing lessons to dates who need rescuing from trees or bathroom windows, laughter opens hearts and ends with kisses.
You never know where love might find you — whether it’s at someone else’s wedding or even a cat funeral … seriously. Each of the rom-coms in this issue will have you laughing out loud, and we hope they bring you a touch of love as you enjoy the blooming flowers amid the spring showers.
